Down the Hatch in New Hampshire

Every time I go into The Galley Hatch in Hampton, NH, I get distracted on the way in by all of the gourmet foods for sale – cheeses, snacks, prepared foods, and more. Then, on the way out, I get distracted again, this time by the bakery case full of pastries, cakes, and other sweet stuff. Oh, and the food inside the restaurant is appetizing, too! On our last trip, my husband and I both started with soups. I opted for a soup of the day, Cauliflower Cheddar Soup, and he chose a classic French Onion Soup. Both were delicious.

Sweet, Sweet Soup in Newburyport

I had two soup firsts this week – soup from an Indian restaurant, and my first coconut soup.  Neither will be my last.  My husband and I enjoy and crave Indian food from time to time.  I particularly crave Chicken Tikka Masala, but I enjoy trying new dishes as well.  This week I checked out the soup offerings from Jewel in the Crown, an Indian restaurant in downtown Newbu

Comfort That’s Hearty & Healthy- Kettle Cuisine’s Three Bean Chili

What a perfect early fall day for soup! It’s cool and dark with a hovering, thick pregnant sky. I figured I had a small window, took off for a short bike sprint and came home a smiling but cold wet rat. While I showered, I warmed a bowl of Kettle Cuisine Three Bean Chili the soup as directed on the package in the microwave oven (yes, incredibly for a guy, I read the directions). The soup came out hot, deeply red and thick - a lot thicker than the photo on the package, and I’m glad for it. The steam that curled up off the bowl right away smelled comfortably rich with flavor.

Mangia Minestrone!

If you go to Ronaldo’s in North Hampton, NH, try everything. Seriously, it’s all good! Ronaldo’s serves up amazing bread, scrumptious appetizers, and delicious and generous portions of pasta in a casual setting.

Irish Soup in the Port

Port Tavern SoupIt had just stopped raining and the temps were in the upper 70s when we headed out to dinner the other night, and it felt practically frigid after the heat wave!  We finally decided to try The Port Tavern in Newburyport which took over the former home of the Irish pub Rosie O

A Twist (of Lemon) on a Traditional Soup

After a long week, I needed some comfort food the other night. Preferably, comfort food that didn’t require me to cook it. So, I headed to downtown Newburyport with this on my mind. After doing some errands, I wandered into the Purple Onion for take-out, and felt immediately welcomed.

Romantic Elegance in LA at the little door

Unfortunately, my California vacation has ended. But, not before I had a chance to experience one of Los Angele's amazing hidden treasures. Located on West 3rd Street, it would have been easy to miss, had I been leading the way.

Hot Weather and Hotter Soup

My husband has been travelling, so we had a quick “date night” on Wednesday this week and headed to Ocean Wok in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. If the punny name doesn’t get you, the food will. They have some of the best Chinese food in the area; we’re never disappointed when we go.

Legal Sea Food - Great Clam Chowder and Much More

Ever have a rippin’ buzz saw day going that just won’t stop? That’s exactly how my Thursday was going last week – every second of it flying by. And then I popped into the Legal Sea Food restaurant in the Burlington Mall in Burlington,
