This soup is delicious. It seems fiddly, but it really is not. The point is to cook what needs to be cooked separately and then add it all together and heat through. Otherwise the kale gets slimy and gross and the sausages become tough. Begin this 24 hours before you want to eat it.
When you haven’t seen the sun in months, as is the case here in the Northwest, nothing warms the soul better than a hot bowl of soup. With that in mind, I made a recent trip to the Hopvine Pub on 15th Ave in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Happy Hanukkah (or Chanukah)! This eight-day Festival of Lights revolves around spending time with family and friends, playing games like the drediel, lighting the menorah, and enjoying delicious foods like latkes, "sufganiyot" (jelly-filled doughnuts), and brisket.
Jamjuree Thai Cuisine, on 15th Ave in Capital Hill, actually started as a restaurant by the same name in Bangkok. Some of the founding family members ended up here in Seattle, and brought their love of traditional Thai cuisine with them. This spot is a family favorite for us, and I thought I’d try something new on the menu.
