Hot Weather and Hotter Soup

My husband has been travelling, so we had a quick “date night” on Wednesday this week and headed to Ocean Wok in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. If the punny name doesn’t get you, the food will. They have some of the best Chinese food in the area; we’re never disappointed when we go.
This week, I tried their Hot and Sour Soup, which was incredibly good – perhaps not the best choice on a sweltering summer evening, but it was delicious. The broth was just a little thick and was full of large chunks of mushrooms and long strands of silken tofu. I thoroughly enjoyed the different textures in the soup. Upon first taste, the soup had a sweet element which was followed with a spicy kick. The soup seemed to be spiced with red chili pepper, among other things, so it was spicy but not in a way that was overwhelming to the other ingredients. We enjoyed a few other dishes at Ocean Wok as well, including Moo Shi Pork, which was fantastic.
Give Ocean Wok a try the next time you’re at the beach!
