Mouth-Watering Soup in Maine @ Johnny's Bistro and Bar

My husband and I enjoy both day and weekend trips to Maine and are always on the hunt for great new spots to enjoy a bite to eat. We were thrilled to discover Johnny’s Bistro and Bar on route 1 in Falmouth this past weekend. We didn’t know what we were looking for, but Johnny’s was it – elegant food in a casual and friendly atmosphere. Everything on Johnny’s menu feels special, so it’s difficult to choose, but hard to go wrong! I started with Sweet Potato Soup which was garnished with a luscious spiced honey swirl. The sweet garnish complemented the sweet soup perfectly, as did all of the spices in the soup.

The soup tasted like a fresh-picked sweet potato, only better! It was a fairly thick soup, pureed with bits of sweet potato throughout. It was elegant comfort food – perfect for a frigid Maine night! My husband started witha Mushroom, Fontina and Shallot Tart which had a perfectly light, moist, and flaky pastry crust. We enjoyed our entrees and desserts as well, with the duck breast serving as a real highlight of the meal – it melted in my mouth. We’ll definitely head back to Johnny’s on our next trip to Maine – my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
